Bärbel Ring

RESTAURANT MANAGER & SOMMELIÈRE

“I have always liked the great island, the beautiful landscape and the “intact world” of Sylt. In addition, there is a lot of gastronomy and very nice people. Since April 2009 I have been working at Söl’ring Hof as a sommelière and now also as a restaurant manager. For me, my freedom in the wine cellar and the enthusiasm of the guests is what is simply fun!”

About Bärbel Ring

Bärbel Ring discovered her passion for gastronomy during her studies. And so, without further ado, she decided against her subject of study, “education”, and to train as a restaurant manageress. She completed her training in Duisburg at Gasthof Brendel, where she stayed for six years before moving to Restaurant Ederer in Munich. As much as she loved her time in Bavaria, she longed for the sea. So she first joined Karsten Wulff here on Sylt and stayed there for three years. But since she wanted to become a sommelier, she had to leave Sylt again: she went to sommelier school in Koblenz. Finally, she landed at the Kronenschlösschen in the Rheingau and at the Künstler winery.

Bärbel Ring has been here on the dune since 2009. Together with a great team, it is a matter of the heart for her to reinvent pleasure again and again and to make unique (wine) moments experienceable. Since 2018, she has been the dual head of the Söl’ring Hof restaurant together with Jan-Philipp Berner. Spurred on by her passion, she was awarded the title “Sommelière of the Year” in 2015. Furthermore, 2017 and 2018 were successful years for Bärbel Ring – in which she secured first place in each of the categories MRS. FEEL GOOD & MEISTERIN DER WEINE categories of the BEST-OF-THE-BEST Awards. In 2019, Feinschmecker awarded Bärbel Ring as Sommelière of the Year. She was also presented with the Food Mover Award at EAT Berlin. In 2022, she received the “Sommelière of the Year” award from Schlemmer Atlas.
