Pua Moders was known as the “Sylt Till Eulenspiegel”. Numerous tales have grown up around him, because many funny pranks and incidents are said to be due to him. Even as a child, he regularly strained the nerves of his fellow men – he was a son of freedom and a child of the wilderness.
The children’s author and screenwriter Boy Lornsen was born in Keitum in 1922. He spent his childhood on Sylt before the family moved to Brunsbüttel. He first learned the trade of carpenter and joiner, and later passed his exams as a sculptor. In 1967 he wrote “Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt” – it became an incredible success. Only one year later followed “Jakobus Nimmersatt”. The books were translated into 13 languages. In 1980, Lornsen moved back to Keitum, where he died in 1995. In addition to children’s stories, he wrote poems, short stories and screenplays, including for an episode of the legendary show “Tatort”.
