The deep blue sea, the green dune landscape and the Wadden Sea habitat – you can overlook these three natural spaces in the North Sea double room on the southern gable of the 5-star hotel. Flooded with light, bright and with a 180° view, you will find Sylt in all its natural facets here.
Nature is within reach here – even from the bed and from the bathtub and shower!
The southern sea room is named after the whaler and beach inspector Lorens de Hahn, who was born in Rantum in 1668. At the age of eleven, he was already a ship’s boy on fishing boats that went out to fish for herring. At the age of 25, he became a whaling commander and was the island’s leading whaler with 169 whales killed – which made him probably the richest Sylt man of his time. Alongside this, he held the office of beach inspector, which he exercised with great rigour in order to put a stop to the theft of beach goods. When he died at the age of 78, his fortune was the equivalent of four million euros in today’s terms.
